About the event

The opening event of the London creativity and wellbeing week
A creative and interactive one day conference using workshops and networking activities to provide a stimulating learning environment.

The role of arts and music in health improvement continues to thrive in the UK and this conference has been designed to celebrate and learn from past achievements and explore plans for the future.

Following May’s general election, this event provides an excellent opportunity to reflect on the implications which the outcome of the election has for the field. We have an excellent programme of speakers and workshops, with plenty of opportunity for sharing of experience and discussion.

Organised in association with the National Alliance for Arts, Health and Wellbeing, which advocates the value of creative arts for health and wellbeing, the conference will support the development of a national network of arts and health researchers, building on previous initiatives such as the seminar programme funded by the Economic and Social Research Council during 2013-14. It also welcomes the commitment shown by Arts Council England through its new research funding programme.

The conference will focus on:

  • Current innovations and initiatives
  • Perspectives on evaluation and research
  • Making the case for investment
  • Securing commissioning
  • Integrated care - the role for arts
This event is also the official launch of a new Special Interest Group for Arts and Health. RSPH are committed to supporting developments in this field and recognise the need for a robust evidence base for arts and health practice.
