About the event

Start your weekend with a relaxing drawing session in the Gallery led by artist Sue Wilson.

You will spend time looking at portraits, exploring different elements such as technique, composition and line. Drawing from the portraits encourages you to look slowly and carefully at the works, giving you an artist’s perspective.

There is a short introduction at 18.30 but feel free to drop in whenever you like. You can stay for 10 minutes or 2 hours.

The class is suitable for both beginners and more confident artists.  All materials are provided.

What do the participants think?

  • It’s like going to yoga - I felt so relaxed afterwards. Great start to the weekend.

  •  ‘Visiting London, we happened upon a free drop-in drawing session at the National Portrait Gallery. The welcoming tutor placed a sheaf of cartridge paper and some pencils in our hands, and we were away. A great hour’s fun. Even my wife, who hates drawing, found it engaging and was proud of her finished efforts, which we still have. Guardian (Travel) 21 January 2012

  • Brilliant. I did the Drop in Drawing and learned a lot. Thank you!’

  • ‘I never thought drawing could be so much fun.’

15th June Drop-in Drawing session led by artist Sue Wilson. 18.30- 20.30.
