About the event

For People of All Ages and Abilities

No Experience Required - Just the will to Participate

Joy of Sound workshops are open to all-comers. We meet to play music together using a large selection of instruments that are all available for participants to explore. Using JOS method that allows people of all abilities to play together on equal grounding, groups of different size improvise together in the round, creating a moving, engaging and often rousing music that grows from shared ability, focus and participation.

JOS specialises in designing and providing bespoke music instruments and instruments access devices that allow disabled and/or impaired participants to contribute equally as players, on their own terms, as co-creators towards a shared muse that grows to evolve into a natural flow of interconnected themes that arise from the group to resonate throughout the beautiful nave of St Peters Heritage Centre, a fine historic building and most generous supporter of the JOS project for the past 15 years. Every session is different, though approaches remain the same, outcomes vary uniquely and delightfully.

  • We encourage all participants to arrive before the session to settle-in before the start, so to gain experience of the session from start to completion.
  • No one is ever turned away
  • All are invited to attend for after session tea, biscuits and shared reflections.

Entrance is by suggested donation of £5
