About the event

Come and enjoy some time to relax, reflect, communicate and learn at these free 'sit and stitch' events held in the Cantor Building, Sheffield Hallam University on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th June 2015.

Pop along in your lunchbreak or after work (we are here until 6pm), sneak an hour out of your afternoon or come for the whole session!  There has been lots of media coverage about the positive effect knitting or crochet can have on your wellbeing - from the meditative nature of stitching rhythm to the great sense of achievement when you make something yourself.

Bring your current knit / crochet project with you or come and squish a variety of donated yarn to use and take away.  Just stitch and chill, or feel free to take a sticker to say you're happy to help a beginner.

If you wish, you can also contribute to a PhD research project exploring identity and wellbeing in women who knit or crochet -  in groups or alone.  This is possible through a  written or online questonnaire - or in a discussion group (which will be recorded).  Further information will be available about participating on the day.
